Since 2002, Aberdeen Country Club Golf Course has been proud host to Marine Corps League Wounded Warrior Battalion Charity Golf Tournaments. This event is enthusiastically organized by the Aberdeen staff, many of whom are veterans themselves.
Every year for many years, Aberdeen has hosted the World Amateur for at least two or three rounds. Aberdeen also hosts the Carolina Series Swingthought.com Tour a few times a year. At the national level this used to be known as the NGA Hooters Tour. Tadd Fujikawa from Hawaii has played at Aberdeen on this tour, as well as Scott Stallings.
One special event every year is the Bobby Montgomery Memorial Cup Tournament. Bobby Montgomery was a beloved member of the Aberdeen community, and every year his friends and neighbors hold a Captain’s Choice tournament in his honor.
Aberdeen is popular with women. Notable among women’s groups that play our courses is the Executive Women’s Golf Association (EWGA), made up of 16–32 women who play here at various times throughout the year. In 2015, Aberdeen hosted a group of 60-80 women from Wilmington called Club 21. Why 21? Because all of their handicaps were below 21!
